4 DAY COURSE MON-THURS or 2 WEEKENDS

This course has been developed to cater for both men and women with little or no experience and is ideal for people working in the construction sector who wish to broaden their skills or for anyone wishing to tackle their own home improvements or even a change in career. The course is delivered in a practical way covering all aspects of basic bricklaying with one to one support as required. Tailored to suit the individual, from building a garden wall to an extension or garage.

• Using tools
• Correct mixes
• How to set out using string lines
• How to build corners
• Gauge, level, plumb technique
• Using English, Flemish and Stretcher bonds
• Pointing for face work
• Cavity walls and damp proofing
• Working to current building regulation
• Foundation work and advice
• Courses run from 9:30 to 4:30 each day

PLASTERING

4 DAY COURSE MON-THURS or 2 WEEKENDS

This course has been developed to cater for men and women with little or no experience and is ideal for people working in the construction sector who wish to broaden their skills or for anyone wishing to tackle their own home improvements or even a change in career. The course is delivered in a practical way covering all aspects of basic plastering and an introduction to rendering, with one to one support as required.

• Hawk and trowel techniques
• Mixing materials to the correct consistency
• Preparing walls
• Cutting and fixing plaster boards using direct bond method (dot and dab)
• Sealing all joints with scrim tape
• Fixing angle bead correctly
• Applying scratch coat
• Applying finish coat to a high standard ready for painting
• External Rendering mixes
• Basic rendering techniques using sand and cement
• Courses run from 9:30 to 4:30 each day

PLUMBING

THE COURSE WILL RUN ON 2 CONSECUTIVE WEEKENDS 9.30am - 5pm.

This course is designed to give you a solid understanding of the techniques used in everyday plumbing projects, and will involve:

• Fitting a complete bathroom suite from start to finish.
  
• Working with various jointing techniques,i.e. push fit, compression & soldered.
  
• Stop cock dismantling/reassembling & repair advice.
  
• Header tank assembly.
  
• Tap repair.
  
• Isolators.
  
• Various pipe diameters & which is used for what.
  
• Moving radiators
  
• Installing outside taps

CERAMIC TILING

COURSE DURATION IS 1 DAY 9:30am - 4:30pm

This course is designed to give you a solid understanding of the techniques used in everyday Ceramic Tiling projects, and will involve:
