QUESTIONS
What do I need to bring with me?
All PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
is provided for you on the course, except steel toe capped boots/heavy
duty shoes.
How much are
the courses?
The courses vary in price and the price alters for weekend
or out of hour’s programmes. However if you call the free phone number
we do have weeks where we need to fill courses, so we sell
off the empty places at excellent prices. Please phone and speak to Steve
to find out if there are any discounts. We have been known to discount
by £200 to fill the last places.
Can the courses be funded?
Yes they can, but it
depends on your address and your employment status. Please call Steve
on the free phone number for more information.
Is
there somewhere to eat?
There is a Café 1 minute walk away,
which serves hot, or cold food or you can bring your own and eat
in our rest area.
Are the courses Accredited or recognised?
You will
get a certificate from Yorkshire Trade School at the end of your
course but this is not recognised by the industry. However at the
beginning of 2007 you can do a City & Guilds qualification
in all subject areas , up to NVQ level 2/3 Please call for more details.
What will I learn?
You will learn all the basic
aspects of your chosen trade and be competent enough by the end of
the course to start tackling small jobs on your own.
Can I get a job from coming on the course? If you show the aptitude for the trade and are looking for employment
we can showcase your work whilst you are in our school to employers
to let them see what you are capable of. To date we have helped numerous
people into full/part time work after attending our courses.
Is there any written work?
No all of our introductory
courses are practical hands on learning.
Who are the courses for?
The courses are for anyone wanting to try
out a construction trade, or re skill if you already have a trade.
They are taster courses but the amount of knowledge you pick up is
amazing.
Are the courses flexible?
Absolutely flexible, If you want to learn
something specific come to us. We encourage people to bring their
ideas like building a conservatory base or learning how to lime plaster.
You can build whatever you want here on a small scale using the correct
techniques and then go away and start doing it on your own. It’s
that easy.
